Can I bring in jewelry to sell at Christine's Consignment?
- We consign gold, estate pieces and signed better costume pieces.
- We purchase other costume jewelry and sterling according to a pricing schedule. Since we purchase it as a batch, it cannot be reclaimed, so be sure that you have not included pieces that may have sentimental value.
When can I bring in items?
- If you have not consigned with Christine's before, please call to schedule a time.
- When we schedule your appointment, we'll be sure that you have no questions.
- At the time of your appointment, we'll quickly make our selections and give back to you what we cannot accept for consignment.
- If you have consigned with us before, and have less than then 10 items, you may drop them off during store hours. If we cannot look at your items immediately, we will either donate items we cannot consign, or you agree to return within 3 days for the items that we cannot accept for consignment. Tip: Most "regulars" call early in the day and ask what time is best.
Do I have to bring my items in on hangers?
- Yes Please! This is so we can examine your items more efficiently than if we had to pick each item up, hang it and look it over. Remember, we will change your hangers during the appointment.

How much money do I receive for consigning?
- Our consignors receive 40% of the items selling price.
How long is the consignment period?
- Items stay on the selling floor for 6 weeks.
Are there consigning "limits"?
- For simplicity when scheduling, we consider a “standard” appointment to be 5-20 apparel items. Accessory items are not included in this count. If you have carefully sorted your items and find that you will have more than 20 items, just let us know when scheduling so that we can be sure to allow enough time.
Do you ever "stop" consigning at Christine's?
- We start our seasonal clearance sales the first week in July and the first week in January. All clothing and shoes unsold at this time will be included in our sale.
Do I have to pick up unsold items?
- No. After the six-week consignment period, prices may be drastically reduced for quick sale. These funds support our charitable giving program to various local agencies. If they still do not sell, the items are donated directly to local groups who have demonstrated a good use for the items.
If I want to pick up unsold items, what do I do?
- Contact us a few days before the final date of sale, and let us know that you want to pick up unsold items. We do require 24 hours notice when you are reclaiming unsold items. If you are only concerned with a particular item or items, please ask about that particular item or items; we will simply pull up your account and let you know what is still in our inventory.
Who sets the prices?
- Using our knowledge of the market and our experience, we set the prices. We price based on several factors - supply and demand, the season, the label, the condition of the item and what the market will bear..
How do I get paid?
- Payment is at the end of the 6-week consignment period. If you are reclaiming unsold items, we will settle your account when the items are picked up. If you are not reclaiming unsold items, you may settle your account at any time. We will mail checks that are more than $50 (by request) or if you have relocated out of our service area.
How do you keep track of my items?
- We use a sophisticated software program designed specifically for the resale industry. We also use this software to analyze selling trends.
How do you decide which items to accept?
- We only consign those items we think will appeal to our customers. Please do not take it personally if we decide not to consign items - due to the high volume of items presented, we are unable to accept everything brought to us.
What items sell?
- Better labels in good condition sell discount house labels, department store “budget labels”, some mall discount brands and those designed for big-box stores do not sell well and therefore we don't accept them.
How can I maximize the value of my items?
- Always launder/clean items according to manufacturer instructions. Leave dry-cleaning tags attached. Leave all sewn-in labels intact. Future buyers like to know what they are buying and how to care for the garment. We will not consign items without these tags.
